June 26, 2006 – A journey to Ranakpur, India in Asia

Ranakpur, A Change Of Scenery

On the way to Ranakpur, where the famous Jain temples are located, the scenery changed from desert landscape to forest. Definitely a breather away from the highest temperatures I've ever experienced in my life. The monsoons have started in this area as well.

the main Jain temple, Chaumukha Mandir, hidden behind lush greenery

a detailed carved marble ceiling inside

don't forget to get a glimpse of the Kama Sutra carvings in the ceiling before the entrance to the main Jain temple

passed through the Kumbalgarh Wildlife Sanctuary, where monkeys were spotted
