April 27, 2006 – A journey to Halong Bay, Vietnam in Asia

Dreamy Halong Bay

Ahh, Halong Bay. One of the places I've been wanting to visit in Viet Nam after watching Anthony Bourdain's episode on Vietnamese cuisine.

The next morning, we got on a boat for a relaxing cruise between the island-mountains in Halong Bay. The color of the water transcended from a muddy brownish-green at the dock to a deep, muddy aqua-green once we got out. It looked similar to the waters surrounding Hong Kong and Macau. Turns out that it's the same sea - the South China Sea. Duh!

The scenery looks quite similar to that of Guilin, China, except we weren't cruising on a wide, muddy brown river.
