August 13, 2006 – A journey to Pamukkale, Turkey in Middle East

Naturally Calcified

Since Rick and I have made an attempt to visit every country's hot springs (if they have them of course), we decided to head to Pamukkale. Pamukkale, the land of Turkish therapeutic waters, also has ancient ruins and some pretty interesting scenery. The hot springs area looks like one giant, steep ski slope with a bunch of naturally calcified pools. Very beautiful landscape, but unfortunately the natural pools aren't filled up with water anymore.

naturally calcified pools back then (heard that 15 years ago they looked like this)
